Who We Are

At Cape Vines your success is part of our game plan therefore our motto.

Cape Vines was established towards the end of 1996 as a marketing establishment, Neil Ennis, Willie Laubscher and Helius le Roux together with Dawie le Roux, Viticulturist combined their experience in the wine industry.

This marketing structure operates like any grapevine nursery with the main difference being that the vines are produced on the individual farms and marketed centrally. Our collective size enabled us to establish very strong bonds with the suppliers of grafting material as well as an infrastructure to best serve the needs of our clients. The production programme is centrally co-ordinated and different combinations are grafted according to vine orders and industry requirements.

Your superior yield is rooted in our quality.

Dawie is a graduate of the University of Stellenbosch with a B SC degree in Viticulture and Oenology.

He gained valuable experience in the wine industry over the years whilst working as a wine buyer but mostly as group viticulturist at Distillers Corporation in Stellenbosch.

Since 1996 he has worked independent as a viticultural consultant, working as far as France, whilst establishing and growing Cape Vines together with our vine growing partners to be the leading grapevine nursery in South Africa.

Neil Ennis

Neil is one of the founding members of Cape Vines. He underwent his school training at the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria and then obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch.

He then went to work at Iskor and later Krygkor in Pretoria. During this period he obtained an MBA from the University of Pretoria.During 1996 he decided to farm on the old family farm Oakdene near Wellington.

He had the unique opportunity to learn nursery skills from his uncle Pierre Malan, who has been successfully producing quality vines since the early 1960s. Neil is a serving member of the Bovlei Wine Cellar.

Unfortunately, Neil is no longer a member of Cape Vines. He will be enjoying his retirement in Yzerfontein.
