Effective Spraying Practices for Vine Health:
At Cape Vines your success is part of our game plan therefore our motto.
- At the 2-leaf stage, apply foliar feed (Kelpak 10ml/20l) and an insecticide (Endoflo 125ml/100l) using backpack sprayers.
- Two weeks later, apply Kelpak again with Diathane (200g/100l) for downy mildew.
- Repeat Kelpak and Diathane after another two weeks. If pressure is high, spray weekly.
- From 100 mm shoot length, begin a weekly spray program with Aliette (120g/100l) and Diathane (200g/100l) consistently.
- Where downy mildew occurs or pressure is high, spray Acrobat (200g/100l) at a 7-day interval.
- During December, apply two foliar feeds, Maxi Marinure (2.5l/ha) and Metalosate (750ml/ha), at 2-week intervals.
- If problems arise, collect leaf samples to take corrective action.
- For powdery mildew, spray Olymp (50ml/100l) twice at 2-week intervals and Kumulus WG (300g/100l) twice at alternating 2-week intervals during January.
- In February, apply Megapot (750ml/ha) to aid in the ripening of wood.
- From mid-February, replace downy mildew products with Copper Oxychloride (300g/l) to promote wood ripening and inhibit growth.
